AdiPure 11PRO II TK

You know you've been in the job for too long when products you were there for the creation of come back round as archive projects! Reintroducing the adiPURE 11Pro II football boots, famously kept in production by the one and only, Toni Kroos.

If you don’t know the story, Kroos has been wearing the same 11Pro II football boot model, in the same colour-way, since he was first given a pair by Adidas in the spring of 2014. Not wanting to switch to anything else since, he’s stuck with what he feels is the perfect boot to help him perform at his ultimate best. And who can argue with that? The stats and countless honours & accolades he’s gained whilst wearing them all speak for themselves.

The 2023 rerelease pack comes in two main versions. The first, an updated, lighter weight version using the same soleplate as the current Copa Pure football boot franchise. The upper spec is 1:1, just slightly narrower to accommodate the narrower soleplate.

The second is an ultra limited version with the exact same spec as those worn by Toni Kroos. Originally customised by Kroos himself together with Adidas’s Athlete Services department, this version features the Adipure III outsole from 2009 (all white, with no graphic), has the German flag printed in the heels, and is only available in his size - 8.5UK. The only thing reserved for Kroos’s boots are the names of his family members printed on the collars in the Adihaus font.

It was an honour to get to play a small role in putting together this limited edition pack, updating techpacks and artworking where needed. The 11Pro II’s were designed by Jan Vierjahn, who was my line manager at the time just after I’d joined the football footwear team back in 2013. Who knew then that these boots would become so iconic, and go onto help provide more footballing success than any other football boot in history? 10 years later, this rerelease is now the last of those I’ve been involved in for the brand.

For me, this ‘TK’ drop is more than just another boot release - it’s a celebration of greatness; of G.O.A.T. level boots and nothing but elite level performance whilst wearing them. It’s a case study of timeless design and of unmatched material quality. It’s an example of a personal connection to product so strong it blinds to anything else on offer. It’s further evidence of the brand’s deep rooting in football culture, and its humility in acknowledging and telling this story. Whichever way you look at it, it’s a remarkable athlete/sports product relationship and one that may never be repeated.
